Week 6

Week 6! Only 4 more days (including today) until a much needed break for Forester and the Bradburns! Yippee!!!

Praise God that this week started off so well too! Despite having a rough day Saturday (mild colds all around, one episode of vomiting and attitude "issues"), Sunday shone bright and new. The family went to church and out to lunch together, and Forester ate almost an entire cheeseburger. His healthy appetite continued through the day yesterday, and one of his nurses commented that she had not seen him eat so much since treatment started. His weight is holding at 59 pounds. Pray that his appetite sticks around and that the cheeseburger and chinese noodles and cheese and banana and yogurt and chex mix and ... stick to those ribs!

Forester was calm for his port access and GCSF shots yesterday (this is a big praise!) and spent the day playing Xbox with his friend Aiden. He then slept through radiation. When the Bradburns met with Forester's oncologist, she was excited to see him so relaxed about this whole process. She thinks he looks great and gave the okay for him to travel to a big family wedding during his 6 week break. Also a huge praise!

Guess what else??? Make a Wish Foundation already granted Forester's wish! The Bradburns will have an amazing family week at Disney May 30th to June 5th. AND because of some family connections to the Atlanta Braves, Forester will receive his very own authentic Braves jersey with his name on it and a special visit to the dugout to hang out with the players. The family chose to use Tim Hudson's number 15 for Forester's jersey because he volunteers with the Make a Wish Foundation.

Over the weekend, while looking at some pictures of himself post surgery, Forester asked Whitney why he couldn't receive his treatments in the big atrium playroom at the hospital. This gave her the opportunity to broach the subject of the next phase of treatment with him when he will be admitted to the hospital for 4 days every 28 days to receive chemo. Once he understood that he will not be dizzy like he was post surgery, he got excited about the time he'll be able to spend in the playroom. Again, what a brave boy he is and how good God is!!! Amazing!

Blessings to all of you!

April
