Happy Birthday, Grand Do Do!!

Today is my Grandmother's 88th birthday! Her name is Dorothy May Burchfield Slade. She was nicknamed Aunt Do Do (pronounced DOE DOE)when a nephew couldn't say Dorothy. Well, Do Do stuck! She is Grand Do Do or just "Do Do" to many more people than just our family. Almost everyone I think!

I have had the great pleasure of spending lots more time with Do Do in the last several years since she moved in with my parents. She is one lovable, crazy, sports-loving, SPUNKY lady. She is amazing! I am so thankful for her life. Yesterday her 9th great grandchild was born and on her younger brother's birthday. What a present!

We love you Grand Do Do!!! Hope you're having a wonderful birthday!

The Wedding

We had the absolute best time last weekend at Hunter and Kelsea's wedding. It was such an amazing gift to be able to be there and we are so thankful that we didn't miss out on this special event. The Slade side of the family is spread out a bit and it is rare that we are all together in one place. I have a wonderful family...from my parents and siblings down to my 2nd cousins once removed...(or whatever they're called!) and I wish we all lived closer. But, I am so thankful for the time we had together. Here are some pictures and videos to highlight our trip. It was Micah's first time flying and he loved it! Forester felt well most of the time we were there. He went swimming and even cut a rug on the dance floor. The hardest part for him was saying goodbye. He hates saying goodbye to those that he loves. Especially his cousin, Sam who lives in Nashville. He cried for a solid hour after he left. It broke my heart! It was hard for all of us to say goodbye, & I did some crying myself. We love you, Slades and can't wait for the next reunion!

FYI

Hello friends! I quick message to those who subscribe to this blog. If you receive a post in your email and then reply to that post via email, it goes to an email address that I do not manage myself. April and the girls help me with that. Those emails eventually make their way to me but it's delayed. I just wanted you to know I'm not ignoring you! Thanks so much for your words of encouragement and love.

Pete and I had a great time at Sugarland last night. Stellar performance and so much fun!!

Another reason why I like Kris Allen

Quick Post

To those of you who have asked, I'm sorry for not updating about April sooner! April went home on Saturday and is doing pretty well. She continues to have quite a bit of dizziness and fatigue. Please pray for her to take the REST that she needs. Turns out her body was quite run down which is what made her susceptible to this illness in the first place. All you mommies out there know how hard it is for us to rest when our babies need us. Pray that April will have discernment in how much she does and peace in the things she needs to let go. Thanks for all your prayers.

I'll post tomorrow about our Indiana trip... Right now I must jump in the shower as my husband is taking me to see Sugarland tonight. FUN! Thank you to my mother in law, Kathie, for this early birthday present (my bday is in July). Happy Birthday to me!
